Keep the units together

A 1:16 ratio means 16 grams of water for each gram of dry coffee. At that ratio, 20 grams of coffee corresponds to 320 grams of brewing water. The example demonstrates multiplication; it is not a universal recipe.

Use the recipe for your actual brewer

Choose the ratio you intend to try, then use the brewer’s instructions for the remaining preparation. The calculator does not determine grind, temperature, time, food handling or caffeine content. Brewing water and the finished beverage are different quantities, so label them separately in your notes.

Record the result with its context

Keep the coffee identity, brewer, grinder setting and selected ratio beside an observation about the cup. Change one part of the setup on the next comparison so the note is useful. The tool works locally in your browser; its input values are not sent to the aggregate event counter.
